Based on the adult manga by Kishizuka Kenji.
Who is the strongest anime character ever created and why?
I’m only looking at characters who possess extraordinary (godlike) powers with no known (or very few) limits even if these powers have only been showcased a little or not at all.
Feats are not considered in this list, only the potential of each character. I am not looking about how each character is powerful in its own universe but rather across all the anime universe (yea, that’s pretty dumb).
Else, Kirito would be a pretty good candidate. Most of the characters on this list are gods–some from animes that I haven’t even seen yet–and have some form of omni-something.
Therefore, this list cannot be logically placed in any particular order (except for the number one). WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! 10.
Deus Ex Machina from Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary) Deus is literally the God of Time and Space in the Mirai Nikki universe, so his powers include pretty much anything except escaping death (which I must admit is not too godlike) or reviving the dead apparently. First introduced as the imaginary friend of one of the main characters, Yukiteru Amano, Deus creates a survival game between 12 people to each of whom he gives a diary with a particular power, in order to decide his future successor after he dies. 9.
Lord of Nightmares from Slayers “I am the Mother of all darkness.
I am one who has dreamed for years uncounted of regaining my form.
I am a darkness beyond the blackest pitch.
Deeper than the deepest nights.
I am the sea of chaos.
The source of all chaos.
This is how you describe me.
I am…the Lord of Nightmares.” She is omniscient as the four universes in the Slayers anime are all ‘part’ of her.
Nothing can be more powerful than her and she is not capable of getting hurt. Just her name is enough to make the most powerful beings tremble with fear.
While her omnipotence is still in debate, she definitely deserves a spot on this list. 8.
Kami Tenchi from Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki He created the Choushin, which is a group of three omnipotent, omniscient and omni-everything beings who in turn created an infinite number of universes or something like that.
In brief, they are Gods. Now, Kami Tenchi is an even higher being than them.
Basically, he is the God of Gods.
I found a really interesting (and weird) description of him on the anime’s wikia page: “Considering that the Choushin, in turn, have been stated to be far beyond all logic, physics, conceptualization, and dimensional scale, this would logically make him completely boundlessly beyond everybody and everything, and as such absolutely, not just relatively, infinite.” Source: Kami Tenchi 7.
The Truth from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood This is my personal favorite on this list. Edward Elric: “Who are you?” The Truth: “I am called by many names.
I am the world.
I am the universe.
I am God.
I am truth.
I am all.
I am one, and I am also…you.” I still get chills every time I see that scene.
The Truth is not God in the literal and common understood sense.
Instead he is everything. Even though he is not a conscious being who can do whatever he pleases, I feel like he really needs to be on this list.
Maybe because I am such a huge FMA: Brotherhood fanboy. 6.
Nanika/Alluka Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter (2011) One of my least favorite characters from the Hunter x Hunter universe. Note: I am strictly talking about the Hunter x Hunter (2011) anime.
What happens later in the source material (manga) does not affect my point in any way.
If a season 2 were to come out, my opinions will most likely change. Nanika is a mysterious monster or creature which manifests itself by ‘attaching’ itself with another body (in this case Alluka) and taking control over it when certain specific conditions are satisfied. Nanika is speculated to have an infinite power, being able to grant any wish that one desires.
No one knows her power limits, not even the manga has mentioned them if I’m not mistaken. Even though it is very difficult (sometimes deadly) for someone to have his wish granted by Nanika, Killua Zoldyck, who is Alluka’s big brother, is immune to these restrictions.
Basically, he can wish for whatever he wants whenever he wants to. Until there is a clear explanation of what Nanika can or cannot do, he/she/it definitely deserves a place in this list. 5.
Exodia the Forbidden One from Yu-Gi-Oh! Exodia > Kuriboh > Horakhty > Ra > Slifer > Obelisk > Every other monster FIGHT ME!!! (Just kidding, please don’t) 4.
Zeno The Omni-King from Dragon Ball Super He is short, has a childish personality, and is also currently the most powerful character in the entire Dragon Ball franchise even though he doesn’t seem to understand most aspects of fighting. Zeno, along with his future self (Future Zeno), are the only two known beings which are above the entire Dragon Ball multiverse.
They are the ones who are capable to use Erase – a power which can remove anything from existence even beings who are immortal. As the king of all Gods of destruction, he is respected and feared by even the most powerful fighters like Whis, Beerus, or The Great Priest. 3.
Zalama from the Dragon Ball Super (Manga) Zalama, the Dragon God, has only been mentioned in the manga if I’m not mistaken. There is no picture of Zalama so instead I put that of Super Shenron which he created himself.
Nothing is known about him except that he is alive.
Else, the super dragon balls would have already turned to stones. There is no limits to what Super Shenron can do, he can bring dead beings back to life or even restore universes which have previously been erased by Zeno.
If that is the power of Super Shenron, then that of his creator should logically only be greater. Even if he is not an “anime character”, I wanted to add him on this list.
I hope we get to see who he is and what he can do soon. 2.
Haruhi Suzumiya from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) Perhaps the scariest face I have seen in my whole life. Haruhi has the power to change reality.
From making animals talk, to time looping, to creating extra-dimensional spaces and beings, there is nothing that she cannot do. However, she is completely unaware of all of that.
Her powers mostly take effect when she is strongly emotional and really want something to happen.
This is why the other “SOS Brigade” members are there – to protect her and the world at the same time. Osamu Tezuka The God of all Gods of all Demi-Gods of all Kings of all Demi-Kings (???) of all animes. Known as “The Father of Manga”, “The Godfather of Manga”, or even as “The God of Manga”, Osamu Tezuka is the genius who first revolutionized the manga and anime industries. Some of his popular works are “Astro Boy”, “Black Jack”, “Kimba the White Lion” and “Message to Adolf”.
Yes, he made a manga series about Hiter.
He mainly used his talent as a medium to send strong messages to the people and try to convince them to care for each other and for the Earth. Without him, we probably would not have known the characters present on this list and the millions of other ones. Thank you Osamu Tezuka for your priceless contribution to the entertainment industry—both Japanese and international. There are many animes on this list that I have not even watched so please, feel free to correct any mistake made in the comments.
I will try to add more when I can because there are so many god-level anime characters. Inspired by this list: The 15 Most Powerful Anime Gods, Officially Ranked Images’ source: Google Images
