A movie collection where a pretty girl with a black hair is made into a naughty, sex-obsessed girl by the bookshop owner and its clients.

What are the best upcoming animes of 2019?

This list is highly biased and include mostly sequels to animes that I have already watched and really enjoyed.
Feel free to suggest others not listed here in the comments. Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection) The movie finale of the Code Geass franchise which first aired in 2006. It will follow the movie trilogy which was a recap of the first two seasons of Code Geass.
However, some alterations were also made.
So it was more of a remake than a recap.
Some of the major changes include (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Shirley not dying, Mao not appearing at all, and C.C riding a donkey alone in the end instead of being with a “cart driver”. I’m just really excited to see Lelouch, Suzaku, and C.C back in action again.
To be released on February 9, 2019, this movie will mark the end of a great anime franchise. Trailer: 2.
One Punch Man Season 2 To start airing on April 2019, this new season of One Punch Man will be mainly centered about a new villain named Garou who may be as strong or even stronger than Boros.
Maybe he will be the first one to finally survive a serious punch from Saitama, who knows? Actually manga readers do, so no spoilers in the comments please. I also hope that the rank 1 hero, whose identity is still unknown in the first season of the anime if I remember correctly, will make an appearance and will showcase his/her extraordinary powers. The only thing I’m a bit worried about is the fact that the studio making the adaptations has changed.
The first season was done by the legendary Studio Madhouse which is arguably the greatest anime studio of all time.
The second season, however, will be made by J.C.Staff which is not a bad studio by any means but you can see in the trailer that the art does seem a bit different and not as good.
Or maybe it is just my imagination… Trailer: 3.
Chihayafuru 3 The new season is set to be released on April 2019 and will consist of 25 episodes just like its two previous ones. Chihayafuru is centered about karuta, a traditional Japanese card game.
I think it deserves much more recognition from the anime fan-base as a great sports anime.
I can get how the story may sound boring as the aim of karuta is basically to “try to touch a card lying on the ground after a narrator reads part of a poem”. However, the game is explained to such a depth throughout the anime that every single karuta match is always captivating and never gets repetitive, or boring.
The animation is impeccable (as one would expect from Madhouse).
The main characters are fun, interesting, and all have something in common: they love karuta. No trailer for this third season has been released yet. 4.
Detective Conan Movie 23: The Fist of Blue Sapphire Detective Conan is the anime of my childhood.
I remember rushing straight home after school without wasting time just to not miss a single second of the daily episode airing on TV.
Crimes, mystery, detectives, suspects, alibis, clues, deductions—all that really fascinated me as a child and Detective Conan made that love stronger. However, now I am mostly disappointed of how Detective Conan has changed.
Sure, the animation looks better than 15 years ago but I also think that the older episodes had much more suspense and thrill in them—something that animation quality, no matter how good, can never replace.
Some episodes like my favorite case, The Moonlight Sonata Murder (episodes 11 and 12), The Mountain Villa Murder (episodes 34 and 35), or The Knight Baron Mystery (episodes 68 - 70), were genuinely scary and intriguing.
Or maybe it is just my nostalgia kicking in… Most of the 22 previous movies were not that great but the new one, which will be released on April 12, 2019, will not only have Kaito Kid but also Makoto, and even Shinichi himself (as seen in the trailer below).
If it is just Kaito Kid in disguise, I will be so pissed. The Magician Under the Moonlight VS The Prince of Kicks I just hope that it will not be disappointing… Trailer: 5.
Mob Psycho 100 II To be premiered in January 7, 2019, Mob Psycho 100 II will follow the new adventures of Shigeo Kageyama, a young boy who possesses extraordinary psychic powers.
He will have to face new enemies while trying his best to control his own emotions, else many innocent lives could be put in danger. The first season was a great success as it was weird, funny, but also epic at the same time.
Let’s hope the second season will be as good or even better than the first one. Trailer: 6.
Made in Abyss 2nd Season An official release date for this one has not been announced yet but many speculate that it will likely happen mid to late 2019 or at worst, early 2020. The first season was amazing.
The anime was refreshing and offered something truly unique.
It has even received a very well deserved “Anime of the Year” award from Crunchyroll.
So, it is only normal for me to be so hyped about the second season which, initially, many thought would never happen. The source material (manga) is currently ranked 12th on MyAnimeList’s list of “Top Mangas of All Time” and the first anime season is currently ranked 19th on MyAnimeList’s list of “Top Animes of All Time”. No trailer for this second season has been released yet. 7.
Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) There is a lot of anticipation for this one.
The manga is a great success with currently over 8.7 million copies sold.
Even the trailer below currently has 133k views which is very impressive for a non-sequel anime adaptation. The story revolves about an orphanage called Grace Field House.
There, the children, who have nowhere else to call ‘home’, live happily like brothers and sisters under the supervision of their kind “Mama”.
However, that soon changes after two of them disobey the rule of the orphanage and travel past the gate to find out the horrible reality that they are all just food for some race of demons.
They now try to change their destiny with not much time before them. I’m really looking forward to this anime which will began airing on January 11, 2019. Trailer: 8.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!: Kurenai Densetsu Very few animes made me laugh to the point where I had to pause the video, try to stop laughing, start breathing again, drink some water, and resuming the video.
Konosuba is one of them.
Its big success as a comedy anime lies in its ability to totally catch us off guard and effectively deliver unexpected and funny dialogues and actions. Though the exact month of release has not been confirmed yet, it will come out sometime in 2019.
We do not also have any information about what this movie will be but let’s hope that it is not a just recap of the first two seasons, and that a season 3 will be officially announced after its release (which is a quite common practice in the anime industry). The studio which made the first two seasons of Konosuba, Studio Deen, is not working on this movie.
Instead, the job is being relayed to J.C.Staff but with the same main staff that was behind the previous seasons.
Therefore, the difference should not be too obvious in my opinion. No trailer for this movie has been released yet. 9.
Ookami to Koushinryou VR (Spice and Wolf VR) Yes, this is real.
They are making a Spice and Wolf virtual reality anime which will be released in in early 2019. No, I am not crying, you are crying. I am very excited for this even if I don’t own a VR headset nor do I plan to buy one anytime soon.
However, the anime will be viewable on PC even without a headset.
Now, they just need to announce a third anime season, then I know that I’m officially dead, and have reached heaven. It is amazing that the kick-starter funding goal which was ¥8,000,000 (about $70,000) was reached in just two hours. No additional information about the story of the anime has been released yet. Trailer: 10.
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 (Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2) I don’t normally agree with the excessive amount of hype than some “mainstream” animes get but SNK deserves every bit of it especially after the first part of the third season which was simply awesome. Wit Studio really surpassed itself in terms of animation quality: the emotions felt real and the fight scenes were just epic.
Its last episode ended with a cruel cliffhanger where we see (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Levi “fighting” against Eren while Mikasa also joined in to kick Levi’s ass.
I just want to know what happens next, and what is there inside that goddamn basement??? This second part of the third season will began airing on April 2019.
If the quality remains as good (or is better), and the pacing is as consistent, then there is nothing to worry about. Trailer: Now I’m going to list some animes which I’m not particularly interested in watching but which I think may include some of the best (or most popular) animes which will come out in 2019. Honorable Mentions: 11.
Boku no Hero Academia 4th Season (My Hero Academia 4) To be released on October 2019, this season will focus mainly on the “Internship Arc” of the manga. Trailer: 12.
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (The Rising of the Shield Hero) The source material was a series of light novels which was then adapted into a manga series.
The latter was a success (with a score 8.39 on MAL) and now Studio Kinema Citrus is doing the anime adaption which will be released on January 9, 2019. Trailer: 13.
Fate/stay night Movie: Heaven's Feel - II.
Lost Butterfly To be released on January 12, 2019, it is the second movie of the trilogy. Trailer: 14.
Dragon Ball Super Movie: Broly Even though it has already been released in Japan on December 14, 2018, it will only hit USA and Canadian theaters on January 16, 2019, and later for other parts of the western world I think. It has been a huge success thus far with Over $18M made at the Japanese Box Office in only about 11 days. Trailer: 15.
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Movie: Orion no Ya (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion) To be released on February 15, 2019.
The second season of the anime will air later during the year. Trailer: Again, this list is ultimately only a guess and contains mostly sequels of already good animes.
No one knows what overlooked anime may come out as a hidden gem.
I feel like 2018 was not that particularly great in terms of animes compared to some earlier years so, let’s wish together for a 2019 full of great animes. Source: Google Images
