What do non-anime fans think about anime? Why? How?

I used to love anime, I was open minded with anime! I loved Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, and Elfen Lied! But then came the faithful day when my brother and I tried to watch through all of Pita Ten...
why did I try to watch it? It had angels and demons involved, and at the time, I was edgy as heck (still am in a way, I guess) and wanted to see some epic angel and demon war.
But NOPE! It was nothing but comedy and obnoxious filler and cutesy stuff... From that day forth, when I tried to watch further anime, I began to realize I hated things about anime that I can't unsee or unhear anymore...
Of course the ones I've listed before Pita Ten are still in my heart, but there are a few things I still cringe about with them... Why I despise anime now... - Moe (don't get me started...) - The high pitched female voices (really hurts my head and makes me cringe hard...) - Making older female characters look young, it makes me feel uncomfortable...
(I'm so sorry for all the actresses who had to make such obnoxious voices...) - Over-dramatic voice acting (especially with male characters) - Too many filler - Stupid catch phrases that are supposed to be "cute" but end up being so annoying... - The style is too generic * Characters from one anime look like another character from a completely different anime but recolored; OR everyone in the same anime pretty much are just re-skins with different hair styles (I think it's called the "same face syndrome"? Though I love the story, Elfen Lied suffers very much from this...) * Facial expressions are sometimes so blank or not really expressive enough (unless it's some kind of action or dark anime) * Not enough body types (EVERYONE has to be either super beautiful/handsome or blandly designed) Also, why do anime characters talk with their eyes shut when they're happy? I just find that kind of weird.
