What are some great lesser known non-anime animated films?

This is really a passion of mine.
I teach a history of Animation class and love to introduce great but obscure animated films.
And it turns out that almost everything animated except for a few Disney and Warner classics) is unknown even to many animation students. So I'll start with features, in 2018 there have been 25 animated features released (or soon to be released) 4 of them are anime, 10 had pretty wide releases that leaves 11 that you may not ever see or even hear about.
What's good is always a matter of personal taste so I'll use the Oscar nominations as a reference.
Here are some non-anime films good enough to get Oscar nominations that you may not have seen: Chico & Rita, Boy and the World, A Cat of Paris, The Red Turtle, The Triplets of Belleville, Persepolis, The Secret of Kells, The Illusionist, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Ernest & Celestine, Song of the Sea, Anomalisa, Shaun the Sheep Movie, My Life as a Zucchini, The Breadwinner, Loving Vincent I have some personal favorite animated features released before the animated feature category was started from various countries, like Italy: Allego Non Troppo, Hungary: Son of the White Mare, Czechoslovakia: The Emperor’s Nightingale, Russia: The Snow Queen, France: The Adventures Of Mr.
Wonderbird, Fantastic Planet, Canada: Rock & Rule, and USA: Heavy Traffic, Watership Down, The Incredible Mr.
Limpet, Twice Upon A Time, Adventures Of Mark Twain, Osmosis Jones, I Married A Strange Person. If you're asking about shorts there are so many, let me know and I'll make another list.
